Goat the Head, a Norwegian death metal group from Trondheim, was formed in 2005 by former members of Thorns, Troll, and Keep of Kalessin. The band released the EP Neander Tales in 2006, followed by the debut album Simian Supremacy in 2007, which was described as an average death‑metal effort with groove‑metal tendencies. After a lineup change that saw Trond Frønes replace bassist Snorre A. Hovdal, the group issued their second album, Doppelgängers, in 2010. A 19‑second track, "Darwinian Minions", was accompanied by a 150‑second music video. That year, the band also performed at the by:Larm festival, after which they released the EP Wicked Mimicry in 2011, and the third studio album Strictly Physical in 2021. The album, Et lokalsamfunn i sorg, followed in 2023.
