Theodor Bastard is a Russian world music and neofolk band from St. Petersburg, founded in 1995 by Alexander Starostin, known as Fedor Svolotch. Initially a solo project, the band evolved into a group. In 2004, they released their album Pustota, exploring themes of emptiness through a Buddhist lens. The band's sound incorporates elements of dark wave, trip hop and ambient, featuring Yana Veva’s vocals in various languages. The group's discography includes the studio albums Agorafobia (2000), BossaNova_Trip (2002), Oikoumene (2012), Vetvi (2015) and Volch'ya Yagoda (2020), as well as the live album Sueta (2006) and compilation album Remixed (2011). Theodor Bastard performed at major European festivals such as Fusion Festival, Wave-Gotik-Treffen and Castle Party. They collaborated with artists like Martin Atkins, Peter Christopherson and Fun-Da-Mental.
