Jazzyfatnastees was an American vocal duo from Los Angeles consisting of Tracey Moore and Mercedes Martinez. Originally formed as a quartet in 1992, the group signed with the label Tommy Boy in 1993. In 1995, the ensemble appeared on the soundtrack for the film Panther on the track “Freedom (Theme from Panther)”. Following the departure of members Stevvi Alexander and Arlynn Page in 1997, Moore and Martinez relocated to Philadelphia. The duo released its debut studio album, The Once and Future, in 1999, which was co-produced by members of the band The Roots. Their recording history also included the studio albums The Tortoise & the Hare (2002) and The World Is Coming (2009). The group established the Black Lily music series to showcase neo-soul artists including Alicia Keys and Jill Scott.
