Ryukyu Underground is an electronic music duo consisting of Keith Gordon and Jon Taylor. The pair met in Okinawa, where they began blending traditional Okinawan folk music with Western dance music and dub. Their debut album, Ryukyu Underground, was released in 2002, marking the start of their career. Subsequent albums included Mo Ashibi (2003) and Ryukyu Remixed (2004). Notable singles such as "Hana" (2003) and "Seragaki" (2004) further solidified their unique sound. The duo's music was featured in various media, including Buddha Bar compilation albums and television programs. Ryukyu Underground's work was well-received in Okinawa, with locals appreciating their fusion of traditional and modern elements.
