Thy Serpent is a Finnish symphonic black metal band from Espoo, formed in 1992 by Sami Tenetz. The group's initial steps included recording the demos Frozen Memory (1994) and Into Everlasting Fire (1995). In 1996, the band released its debut studio album, Forests of Witchery, under Spinefarm Records, which received positive reviews from the specialized press. The following year, the group published its second studio album, Lords of Twilight (1997), also under Spinefarm Records. In 1998, the band signed with the record label Nuclear Blast and released Christcrusher, which reached number 38 on the Finnish charts. Its final release was the EP Death (2000).
