Secret Oyster, a Danish progressive rock and jazz-rock band formed in 1972 from the remnants of several local groups. The group's debut album, Secret Oyster, was released in 1973. Later, they signed with CBS Records and released their second album, Sea Son, in 1974. Secret Oyster gained international recognition during their European tour in 1975 with Captain Beefheart. The band collaborated with the Royal Danish Ballet on the project Vidunderlige Kælling, based on erotic poetry by Jens August Schade. Their album, Straight To The Krankenhaus, was released in 1976. Secret Oyster disbanded in 1977 but reunited in 2007 for a U.S. tour titled Secret Oyster Band: Live In The USA 2007, which included a performance at the NEARfest Fusion festival in New York. In 2019, they released Striptease through the France-based label Long Hair.
