Roszetta Johnson was an American soul and gospel singer born on 11 June 1942 in Tuscaloosa Alabama. She sang in church choirs and was a member of the gospel group the Violet Harmonettes. Johnson recorded the single “A Woman's Way” (1970) which reached number 39 on the Billboard R&B chart and number 94 on the pop chart. She toured with the Bill Doggett Revue and released the single “Who Are You Gonna Love (Your Woman or Your Wife)” in 1971 which peaked at number 45 on the R&B chart. Johnson taught at Ramsay High School in Birmingham before returning to gospel music to tour Japan and Europe. She recorded several gospel albums from the 1980s onward. She was inducted into the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame in 1982 and won the title of best female vocalist at the Birmingham Alabama Music Awards in 2007. Johnson died on 24 March 2011 after suffering from breast cancer.
