Vintersea is a progressive and melodic death metal band formed in Portland, Oregon, in 2014 by guitarist Riley Nix and drummer Jeremy Spencer. The lineup took shape after Nix and Spencer connected with vocalist Avienne Low, who had recently relocated from Malaysia, through a Craigslist advertisement. The group first released the self‑produced EP Constellations in 2014, under the name Asterion, establishing their presence in the local scene. After changing their name to Vintersea, they followed with the self‑released album The Gravity of Fall in 2017, and in 2019 signed with M‑Theory Audio, releasing Illuminated that year. The 2023 album Woven Into Ashes expanded their reach, accompanied by singles such as "Unveiling Light" and "Into the Horizon". The band toured extensively across North America, sharing stages with acts like The Browning, and announced a vocalist change in May 2024, appointing Kayla Dixon.
