The Darkest of the Hillside Thickets, a Canadian rock band from Chilliwack, British Columbia, formed in January 1992 after lead singer Toren Atkinson and lead guitarist Warren Banks met at Fraser Valley College. The duo created a three-song set list to open for local group Mystery Machine, marking their first performance despite having no musical training or experience. In 1993, Jordan Pratt joined as the band's drummer. Their name is drawn from a phrase in H.P. Lovecraft’s story The Tomb. The band released their first CD, Cthulhu Strikes Back, in 1995, followed by Great Old Ones in 1996 and Spaceship Zero: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack in 2000 under Divine Industries. The band also notably won the Rock category at the Fraser Valley Music Awards in 2018.
