DoomSword, an Italian doom metal band from Gallarate, was formed in 1997 by Deathmaster and Guardian Angel. They began with acoustic compositions influenced by medieval music before transitioning to heavy metal. Their first demo, Sacred Metal, released in 1997, led to a signing with Underground Symphony Records for their debut album, Doomsword (1999), which included a cover of "Nadsokor" by Cirith Ungol and became considered a classic of epic heavy metal. After lineup changes, DoomSword released Resound The Horn in 2002 via Dragonheart Records, followed by Let Battle Commence in 2003, which was praised for its darker doom metal atmosphere.
