Big Leaves, a Welsh rock band formed in 1988, originally began as Beganifs. The group consisted of Rhodri Sion (vocals), Meilir Gwynedd (guitar), Kevin Tame (bass guitar, trumpet), and Osian Gwynedd (drums, keyboards). They initially recorded and sold home-recorded tapes, releasing two seven-inch EPs as Beganifs before changing their name to Big Leaves. Signed by Crai Records, they released several EPs, including Trwmgwsg (1998) and Belinda (1999). Their first English-language release was "Sly Alibi" in 1999 on Adam Walton’s Whipcord label, followed by the highly regarded single "Racing Birds". The band's debut album Pwy Sy'n Galw? (Who's Calling?) was released in 1999. They performed at South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas in 2002 and released their final album Alien & Familiar in 2003 before disbanding.
