Jan-Christoph Walter, known professionally as Christoph de Babalon, is a German electronic music producer and DJ born in Hamburg, Germany. He began his career releasing recordings on smaller labels and his own imprint Cross Fade Enter Tainment (CFET). In 1996, he signed to Digital Hardcore Recordings, where he released several EPs before issuing his debut full-length album If You're Into It, I'm Out of It (1997). The album received critical acclaim for its complex construction and experimental form. De Babalon left Digital Hardcore Records amicably after the release of his debut album. He returned to releasing music under his own name in 2008 with the limited edition conceptual 12-inch Scylla & Charybdis (2008). De Babalon released several albums including A Bond With Sorrow (2012), Short Eternities (2015), Exquisite Angst (2018), Recurring Horrors (2020), and Vale (2023).
