Nithyasree Mahadevan, born on August 25, 1973 in India, is a Carnatic vocalist and playback singer. She began her musical training under her mother, Lalitha Sivakumar, and later became a disciple of D.K. Pattammal. Her first public performance was at age 14. Mahadevan's breakthrough came with the release of "Kannodu Kaanbadhellam" from the Tamil film Jeans, which won her the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer in 1998. She has since released numerous albums, including Grama Devathe (2001), and collaborated with prominent musicians like A.R. Rahman. Mahadevan has performed in major sabhas across India and internationally, including the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. Notable achievements include her participation in the Semmozhiyaana Thamizh Mozhiyaam song for the World Classical Tamil Conference 2010.
