Enfants, meaning “children” in French, is an alternative rock project launched in 2022 by Dai Matsumoto, vocalist and guitarist of LAMP IN TERREN. Conceived as a solo-driven band, Enfants channels Matsumoto’s songwriting into a more impulsive and emotionally direct framework. Blending raw guitar-driven arrangements with delicate Japanese lyricism, the project fuses urgency and openness into a sound that feels both intimate and explosive. Matsumoto’s lyrics confront a society that often discourages overt emotional expression, turning themes of vulnerability, distortion, and personal struggle into sources of strength. Rather than polishing away imperfections, Enfants emphasizes emotional friction, presenting music as a lived experience rather than a detached performance. On stage, Enfants delivers intense live shows defined by surging dynamics and unfiltered vocal performances, reinforcing the band’s identity as a vehicle for catharsis. The release Bedford Hedgehog (2026) further highlighted this direction, pairing sharp-edged instrumentation with reflective yet confrontational lyrics that examine inner conflict and resilience.
