Pet Slimmers of the Year, an English post-metal/post-rock band from Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, was founded in January 2008 by Scott Gowan, Steve McKenna, and Dale Vinten. The trio had previously played together in A Thousand Fires. After releasing their first EP Why Won't You Die in April 2008, Pet Slimmers of the Year released their eponymous EP in January 2009. In August 2013, they released the single "Days Since I Disappeared", which led to a three-album deal with Candlelight Records. Their debut full-length album, Fragments of Uniforms, was released in October 2013 through Anchor Music and later reissued by Candlelight Records. In September 2019, Pet Slimmers of the Year released their sophomore album, Sunless, under Spinefarm Records and Universal Music Group. The band has been on hold since their last concert in December 2019 at London's Nambucca due to members living in various European countries and the COVID-19 pandemic.
