Rubyhorse was an Irish rock band from Cork that formed in 1988. The group consisted of Dave Farrell, Joe Philpott, Decky Lucey, Gordon Ashe, and Owen Fegan. Its debut album, A Lifetime in One Day, was released in 1995 in Ireland before the band relocated to Boston in 1997. Within a year of arriving in the United States, the group won three Boston Music Awards and reached Number 1 on the MP3 charts as an unsigned act. After a brief tenure with Interscope Records, the band independently produced the album How Far Have You Come? in 2000 before signing with Island Records. Its major-label recording, Rise, was released in 2002 and featured George Harrison on slide guitar on the track “Punchdrunk”. The single “Sparkle” reached number 17 on the Billboard charts in 2002 and was featured in several television programs and films. Rubyhorse released the album Goodbye to All That in 2004 before disbanding in 2005.
