John Blum

John Blum, born April 15, 1968 in New York City, is an American jazz pianist and composer. He studied at Bennington University, earned a music degree, and completed a master’s in Jazz Composition and Performance. He joined the Improvisers Collective and collaborated with musicians such as Antonio Grippi, Roy Campbell, and Daniel Carter. In 1998, he formed the quartet Astrogeny, releasing the album John Blum Astrogeny Quartet in 2006. Notable solo albums include Naked Mirror (2002) and Who Begat Eye (2009). John Blum played at Vision Festival between 1996 to 2006 and toured Europe in 2011.
