Alden Penner, born on January 12, 1983, in Loretteville, Quebec, is a musician and producer known for his work with The Unicorns and Clues, as well as his solo career. In December 2000, Alden Penner formed The Unicorns with Nicholas Thorburn, releasing their first limited-edition CD, Unicorns Are People Too, in 2003. The band toured extensively before disbanding in January 2005. Penner's first solo release was the single "The Ghost of Creaky Crater" in 2005. He later formed Clues with Brendan Reed, releasing their self-titled album in 2009 and touring internationally. In 2011, Alden Penner released the EP Odes to the House under his solo name. His subsequent releases include the EP Precession (2013), the album Exegesis (2014), and another EP, Canada in Space (2015). In 2014, The Unicorns reunited for a series of concerts. Alden Penner also contributed to several film soundtracks, including Paper Heart.
