SITD (short for Shadows in the Dark and often stylized as [:SITD:]) is a German futurepop and aggrotech group formed in Bochum in 1996. Founded by vocalist Carsten Jacek and musician Thorsten Lau, the band later welcomed Thomas Lesczenski, who became a key songwriter and performer. SITD gained international attention with the club hit "Snuff Machinery" in 2001, followed by the successful EP Snuff and albums including Stronghold (2003), Coded Message:12 (2005), Bestie:Mensch (2007), Rot (2009), Dunkelziffer (2014), and Stunde X (2019). Known for blending hard electronic beats, trance influences, and aggressive vocals, the band's lyrics frequently explore apocalyptic, political, and dark philosophical themes. In 2024, SITD released the single "Brieselang."
