Doctor Midnight & The Mercy Cult, an alternative metal supergroup formed in 2009, consisted of Hank von Helvete on vocals, Tim Sköld on bass, Anders Odden and Audun Stengel on guitars, and David Husvik on drums. In January 2011, they signed with Season of Mist and released their first single "(Don’t) Waste It" on May 9. Their live debut followed on May 11 in Helsinki, with additional shows in Oslo and Stockholm. The band recorded their debut album I Declare: Treason (2011) in Oslo, Stockholm, and Los Angeles, and was released on June 6 to mixed reviews. The band supported the album with several Scandinavian festival appearances.
