Borah Bergman, born December 13, 1933, in Brooklyn, New York City, was an American pianist. Coming from a musical family, he initially played the clarinet as a child. After serving in the military and studying English and music at New York University, Bergman began his piano career around age 20. He was playing in public by 1954 and developed his unique style through intensive training, particularly focusing on his left hand. Between 1975 and 1985, he released four solo albums, including Burst of Joy (1976) and A New Frontier (1983). Bergman's collaborations included notable musicians such as Thomas Chapin, Andrew Cyrille, Evan Parker, Roscoe Mitchell, Peter Brötzmann, and Thomas Borgmann. His discography features works like The Human Factor (1992), Eight by Three (1996), and Exhilaration (1997). Bergman passed away on October 18, 2012, in New York City.
