Octavia Sperati, a Norwegian gothic metal band formed in Bergen, initially consisted of Silje Wergeland on vocals and keyboards, Bodil Myklebust and Gyri Smørdal Losnegaard on guitars, and Trine C. Johansen on bass. The group began with the concept of being an all-female band, but later included male members. Their debut EP, Guilty, was released in 2002. In 2004, they changed their name to Octavia Sperati due to a naming conflict and signed with Candlelight Records. Their first album, Winter Enclosure, was released in 2005 and received critical acclaim, reaching the top ten metal albums in the United Kingdom. The band toured extensively, including performances with Paradise Lost and Cradle of Filth. In 2007, they released their album, Grace Submerged. Octavia Sperati announced that they would be taking a break in 2008 after extensive touring. Members Silje Wergeland and Gyri S. Losnegaard went on to join The Gathering and Tristania, respectively.
