Cornelius Green III, known professionally as Lonesome Sundown, and born on December 12, 1928, in Donaldsonville, Louisiana, was an American blues musician. He started his musical career by learning guitar from a cousin and recording his debut single "Leave My Money Alone" backed with "Lost Without Love" in 1956 under the stage name Lonesome Sundown on Excello Records. His follow-up release, "My Home is a Prison" (1957), gained more traction and established him as one of producer J.D. "Jay" Miller's notable musicians in south Louisiana. Throughout his career, he released several notable songs including "Don't Say a Word" (1957) and "I'm a Mojo Man" (1958). After retiring from music in 1965 due to lack of success and personal difficulties, Lonesome Sundown returned to recording in 1977 with the album Been Gone Too Long. He died on April 23, 1995. He was posthumously inducted into the Louisiana Blues Hall of Fame in 2000.
