Robert Taub, born in 1955 and raised in Metuchen, New Jersey, is an American concert pianist known for his performances of Beethoven and contemporary music. He graduated from Metuchen High School in 1973 and later completed his doctoral degree at the Juilliard School as a Danforth Fellow. Taub's breakthrough came with his debut performance at Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center, New York City, after winning the first Peabody Mason Award in 1983. He has performed with leading orchestras worldwide, including the MET Orchestra and Boston Symphony Orchestra. His discography includes recordings of Beethoven’s complete sonatas, as well as works by Scriabin, Schumann, and Liszt. Notable collaborations include premieres of piano concertos by Milton Babbitt and Mel Powell. Taub's book Playing the Beethoven Piano Sonatas has become a standard in Beethoven literature. He founded MuseAmi, a music software company, in 2008, focusing on enhancing music creation and learning through technology.
