Roscoe Shelton

Roscoe Shelton, born on August 22, 1931 in Lynchburg, Tennessee, was an American singer known for his work in electric blues and soul music. He began his career singing lead vocals with the Fairfield Four in 1949. After serving in the United States Air Force, he joined the Skylarks and recorded for Nashboro Records. His debut album Roscoe Shelton Sings was released by Excello in 1961. Notable singles include "Strain on My Heart" (1964), which reached number 25 on the Billboard R&B chart, and "Easy Going Fellow" (1966). He performed with Otis Redding at the Apollo Theater and released Soul in His Music, Music in His Soul in 1966. Shelton passed away on July 27, 2002. Posthumously, his song "Say You Really Care" was included on the Grammy Award-winning compilation album Night Train to Nashville in 2004.
