Dolores Virginia Rivera García, known professionally as Virginia López, was an American singer born on November 29, 1928, in Manhattan. She began her career as a child and imitated Libertad Lamarque. In the early 1950s, she recorded with guitarist Luis Lija and later released ten albums with Chago Alvarado. López performed on radio programs in Mexico and toured the country in 1957, where she recorded for RCA Records. These recordings included "Osito de felpa", "Por equivocación", and "Te odio y te quiero". In 1958, she received the Discómetro de Oro and the Festival de Codazos prize. López became inactive in the 1960s but resumed her career in 1972 with a performance in Mexico. She married Charlie López in Mexico. Virginia López died on February 3, 2024, in San Juan.
