Lord Belial, a Swedish black metal band from Trollhättan, was formed in 1992 by brothers Thomas "Dark," Anders "Bloodlord," and Micke "Sin" Backelin alongside Niclas "Vassago" Andersson. The group released two demos before signing with No Fashion Records in 1993. Their debut album, Kiss the Goat, was recorded that same year but not released until 1995. Lord Belial gained European recognition with their second album, Enter the Moonlight Gate (1997), which led to tours with Disfear and Dismember. The band's third album, Unholy Crusade, was released in 1999. They signed with Regain Records and released several albums between 2005 and 2008, including Nocturnal Beast (2005) and Revelation (The 7th Seal) (2007). The band ceased activity in 2015 but returned in 2020. In May 2021, the group signed with Hammerheart Records and announced their ninth studio album, Rapture, released in 2022.
