Red Animal War, a rock band from Dallas, Texas, formed in 1998 with original members Jeff Wilganoski, Jamie Shipman, Matt Pittman, and Justin Wilson. The group's album, Breaking in an Angel, was released on Deep Elm Records in 2001. During the recording of this album, Brian Pho replaced Jamie Shipman. They released the EP Red Animal War / Slowride in 2002, followed by Black Phantom Crusades that September and Polizida in 2004, both on Deep Elm Records and Ice Planet Records, respectively. Jeff Davis replaced Brian Pho in 2004, and Tony Wann joined as a second drummer later that year. After releasing Seven Year War in 2006 on End Sounds, the band went on indefinite hiatus following a SXSW performance. Their work includes notable collaborations with producers J. Robbins, Ed Rose, and Darrell LaCour, and they toured extensively across Europe and North America.
