John Hegre (born February 1, 1967) is a Norwegian noise, electronica, and jazz musician, composer, and sound engineer from Bergen. Hegre completed his sound engineering education at the Norwegian lydskole in Oslo in 1991. He worked as a sound engineer until shifting his primary focus to music at the end of the 1990s. In 1995, he began collaborating with drummer Nils Are Drønen in the groups Der Brief and Public Enema. Hegre co-founded the group Jazzkammer with Lasse Marhaug in 1998 and Kaptein Kaliber with David Aasheim in 1999. His discography featured the solo albums A Nice Place To Leave (2003), Snow King (2005), and Colors Don't Clash (2006). Collaborative releases included The Comfort of Objects (1999) and Ballads (2005). In 2017, he released the album Axis. Hegre performed in the ensembles Golden Serenades, NOXAGT, and Bergen Impro Storband.
