El Otro Yo, an Argentine alternative rock band formed in the late 1980s in Temperley, Buenos Aires, was founded by siblings Humberto Cristian and María Fernanda Aldana. The duo began playing music at a young age, influenced by their father's guitar and their mother's poetry. Their early musical journey included various bands before settling on the name El Otro Yo, inspired by a poem by Arthur Rimbaud. In 1989, they solidified their lineup with Sergio Moreno on second guitar, Omar Kischinovsky on drums, and "Pajarito" on bass. The band's first significant release was the cassette Los Hijos De Alien in 1993, which won critical acclaim from rock supplements Sí of Clarín and No of Página 12. Their debut album, Traka Traka, followed in 1994. In 2016, the band entered an indefinite hiatus. María Fernanda Aldana later became the band’s lead vocalist.
