Herod, an American heavy metal band, was formed in 2000 in Buffalo, New York, United States by Jesse Benker and Mike Jeffers. The duo's early background involved their previous band Dead to the World. Herod's initial release was Sinner's in the Eyes of an Angry God in 2001, followed by Execution Protocol in 2002 through Too Damn Hype Records. In 2003, they signed with Lifeforce Records and released their first album under this label, For Whom the Gods Would Destroy, in 2004. Vocalist Jason Russo replaced Judah Nero in 2005, leading to the recording of their second album with Lifeforce, Rich Man's War, Poor Man's Fight, produced by Doug White and released in 2006. In late 2008, Herod joined Dark Harvest Records, releasing their label debut Curse of the King (2009) and follow-up Self Titled EP (2013).
