Marion Verbruggen, born on August 2, 1950, in Amsterdam, Netherlands, was a Dutch flutist. She began her musical education at the Conservatory of Amsterdam before continuing her studies at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague under Frans Brüggen. Verbruggen's career took off as she became known for her expertise in Baroque music, performing with notable ensembles such as Musica Antiqua Köln, Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra, and Tafelmusik. In 1973, she was awarded the Nicolai Prize for her advocacy of Dutch composers. One of her significant contributions includes a transcription for recorder of Johann Sebastian Bach's Six Suites for Solo Cello. Verbruggen was also active in contemporary music and served as a professor at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, where she had studied.
