New Radiant Storm King was an American indie rock band formed in Amherst, Massachusetts, in 1990. The group's original lineup consisted of Peyton Pinkerton, Matt Hunter, Eli Miller, and Elizabeth Sharp. They gained early recognition by opening for Nirvana during the band's 1990 Bleach tour stop at Hampshire College. In 1993, after several lineup changes, they released their debut album, My Little Bastard Soul, on Axis Records. The band continued to release albums throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, including Rival Time (1993), August Revital (1996), and Winter's Kill (2002). Notable collaborations include a split single with Guided By Voices in 1995. Their album The Steady Hand, released in 2006, featured the track "The Winding Staircase", which appeared on the soundtrack of the 2006 movie Catch and Release. New Radiant Storm King disbanded in 2010 after releasing their final album, Drinking In The Moonlight.
