Asgaroth was a Spanish black metal band from Barcelona, formed in 1995 as a one-man project by Lord Lupus. The group's initial releases included the demo Songs of War (1995) and the EP The Quest for Eldenhor (1996). Their breakthrough came with the album Red Shift (2002) on Peaceville Records, which gained them international attention, and was reissued after selling out its first edition of one thousand copies. The band toured extensively, performing with acts such as Cradle of Filth and Type O Negative. After a successful tour in 2007, Asgaroth announced their split on their Myspace page. After the split-up, the band decided to post on their MySpace site the first two stage pre-studio demos to anticipate the band's unreleased album.
