Sérgio Ricardo Lopes de Souza, also known as Sérgio Lopes, was born on October 27, 1965, in Campina Grande, Paraíba, and is a contemporary Christian music singer and songwriter, poet, writer, and lawyer. He emerged from a literary family where his father, broadcaster Magidiel Lopes de Souza, shared romantic poems on the radio. Early involvement in theater at Colégio Estadual da Liberdade nurtured his poetic sensibilities, leading to a music career that launched with Nossos Dias in 1990 under Som & Louvores. Subsequent releases included Libertação (1991), O Amigo (1992), Canaan (1993), Sonhos (1994), and Sérgio Lopes Ao Vivo (2000). The 2001 album Yeshua: O Nome Hebraico de Jesus and 2005’s Lentilhas marked a partnership with Top Gospel. Later works included Coração Discípulo (2014) on Sony Music, the independent Somos (2017), and Sergio Lopes (2019). In 2023, he released the single "És Meu Farol," and in April of the same year, he released the song "Simao Cireneu".
