The Cat's Miaow, an Australian indie pop band, was formed in Melbourne in 1992. The group initially consisted of Bart Cummings and Andrew Withycombe, and later expanded to include Kerrie Bolton on vocals and Cam Smith on drums. Their early releases were a series of cassette albums on the local label Toytown, including Little Baby Sour Puss (1992) and Pet Sounds (1992). The band's dreamy, lo-fi sound gained critical acclaim overseas, leading to the compilation release A Kiss and a Cuddle in 1996 by U.S. label Bus Stop, followed by Songs For Girls To Sing in 1997. In 1999, they released The Long Goodbye through Darla Records’ Bliss Out series. Despite limited domestic recognition, The Cat's Miaow earned a cult following through tape trading and small-label releases within the indie pop underground. Notable reissues include Songs '94–'98 (2022) and Skipping Stones: The Cassette Years '92–'93 (2024).
