Sebastián Escofet is an Argentine film music composer and musician who was born in La Plata, Argentina, in 1968. Escofet decided to pursue music after listening to recordings in the study of his grandfather, Luciano, at five years of age, and bought his first electric guitar at twelve years of age after being inspired by a poster of the musician Pappo. He worked as a self-taught composer until he was eighteen years of age, when he began formal music studies. Escofet composed the soundtracks for more than fifteen films, including Alejandro González Iñárritu's 21 Grams and Biutiful in collaboration with Gustavo Santaolalla, and performed at live festivals such as Sonar, Netmage, Barcelona Forum, and Multiplicidade. His studio discography consisted of the solo albums Meditaciones in 2000, Ahora in 2003, Juego Divino in 2004, Suite Patagónica in 2005, Diversión in 2006, Siberiana in 2008, Núcleos in 2009, Ambientalismo in 2019, El Universo en Miniatura Vol 1 in 2019, and Gralunar in 2020. Escofet also collaborated with numerous prominent artists, including Chango Spasiuk, Gustavo Cerati, Los Estelares, Fabiana Cantilo, Ulises Butron, Jorge Drexler, Los 7 Delfines, Philip Glass, Kronos Quartet, Ezequiel Borra, and Mussa Phelps.
