The Screamers, an American electropunk group, were founded in 1975 by Tomata du Plenty and Tommy Gear. The band originated from Seattle as The Tupperwares but relocated to Los Angeles in late 1976 after changing their name due to legal threats. They quickly became a sensation in the L.A. punk rock scene with their theatrical performances. The Screamers gained significant attention through live performances at venues like the Whisky a Go Go and the Roxy on Sunset Boulevard, as well as tours in New York. Notable songs included "122 Hours of Fear" and "Vertigo". Despite never releasing an official recording during their active years, the band's influence was profound. The Screamers disbanded in the early 1980s, but their legacy endured through releases such as the video Live in San Francisco: Sept 2nd 1978 (1984). Tomata du Plenty passed away in August 2000.
