Johnny Belle Moore, known as Johnny B. Moore, was born on January 24, 1950, in Clarksdale, Mississippi, and is an American guitarist, singer, and songwriter specializing in Chicago blues and electric blues. He began playing guitar at age seven under his father's tutelage and initially performed gospel music before moving to Chicago with his family in 1964. Moore joined Koko Taylor's backing band, The Blues Machine, as lead guitarist in 1975, touring with her and Willie Dixon throughout the late 1970s and 1980s. He made his debut album, Hard Times, in 1987 on the B.L.U.E.S. label. Throughout the 1990s, he released several more albums, including Live at Blue Chicago (1996). Moore's music retains a strong Delta flavor, reflecting his roots in Mississippi blues. He has performed at notable events such as the inaugural Chicago Blues Festival in 1984 and again in 2002.
