The Jelly Roll Kings were an American electric Delta blues band. The group consisted of Frank Frost on keyboards and harmonica, Big Jack Johnson on guitar and Sam Carr on drums. The musicians had performed together irregularly since 1962 under the name The Nighthawks. In 1979, the trio was invited by producer Michael Frank to record under the name The Jelly Roll Kings and released the debut album Rockin' the Juke Joint Down. The record included the songs “The Jelly Roll King” and “Catfish Blues”. In 1997, the band issued the follow-up album Off Yonder Wall, which was produced by Robert Palmer. This recording featured tracks such as “That's Alright Mama” and “Baby, Please Don't Go”. Frost died in 1999, Carr died in 2009, and Johnson died in 2011.
