Godzuki was an American rock band formed in 1991 in Detroit, Michigan, by vocalist Erika Hoffmann, guitarist Chris “Crispy” Fachini, guitarist Dion Fischer, and drummer Scott Michalski. The band described their sound as “science rock” and debuted with the single “Toast” in 1995. In 1996, they released their first album, Trail of the Lonesome Pine, on March Records, produced by Dave Trumfio, Warren Defever, and Matthew Smith. The following year, they issued the Free Wade EP, featuring Wade the Free Jazz Saxophonist. Their second album, Your Future, arrived in 1998, again produced by Warren Defever, with cover art by Mark Robinson of Teen Beat. The group disbanded in 1999 after a brief touring circuit and a series of split singles, leaving a footprint in the Detroit independent scene.
