Thomas Robert "Tom" Filepp, known professionally as Cars & Trains, is an American multi-instrumentalist from Portland, Oregon. He began his music career by releasing the EP 2AM in 2006 on his own label Circle Into Square Records. His debut album, Rusty String, followed in 2007. In 2010, Cars & Trains released his second studio album, The Roots, the Leaves, under Fake Four Inc., which included the singles "The Sun Always Sets" and "The Leaves". He continued with We Are All Fire in 2012. Cars & Trains also released various compilation and remix albums, including Consumer Confidence Vol. 1 (2006) and The Roots, the Remix (2010).
