Shlomo Gronich, born on January 20, 1949, in Hadera, Israel, is a composer, singer-songwriter, and pianist. He holds degrees in Music Education from Tel Aviv Educational Academy and Composition from the Mannes School of Music in New York City. Gronich’s music blends Israeli pop, folk, and progressive rock with influences from rhythm and blues, jazz, Mizrahi, klezmer, and Middle Eastern music, as well as the traditional Shirei Eretz Yisrael style. His debut album, Why Didn't You Tell Me?!, was released in 1971. Notable works include the album Shlomo Gronich and the Sheba Choir (1993) and compositions for over 15 films, including "Thousand Small Kisses" (1981) and "Beyond the Sea" (1991). He also created music for theatre shows, including The Dream Pilot, a musical performed in Japan in 1991. Notable performances include appearances with Astor Piazzolla and the Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra in 1986 and at the signing of the Jordan-Israel Peace Agreement in 1994. In 2001, he received the Hadassah Award for his work with the Sheba Choir.
