Handful of Hate, an Italian black metal band formed in 1993, began their journey with numerous lineup changes before releasing their debut demo Goetia Summa in 1995. Handful of Hate coined the term "carnival black metal" to describe their unique sound. The band's first album, Qliphothic Supremacy, was released in 1997 following a series of live shows and a record label signing. In 1999, they released Hierarchy 1999, which featured faster, more brutal music and lyrics exploring sexual, fetish, and carnal themes. This album garnered significant attention, leading to a deal with Downfall Records in Sweden. The band continued to evolve musically, releasing albums such as Vicecrown (2003) and Gruesome Splendour (2006). In 2013, the band released To Perdition, followed by Adversus (2019).
