Hamish Milne

Hamish Milne, born 27 April 1939 in Salisbury, was an English pianist best known for championing the music of Russian composer Nikolai Medtner. He studied at Bishop Wordsworth's School in Salisbury before training with Harold Craxton at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where he later taught, and with Guido Agosti in Rome. Milne made his London recital debut in 1963 and first appeared at the BBC Proms in 1978. During the 1970s, he became the first pianist since Medtner himself to present a comprehensive survey of the composer's piano works, helping to revive interest in his music. Milne died on February 12, 2020.
