Weedeater, an American doom metal band, was formed in Wilmington, North Carolina in 1998 by Dave "Dixie" Collins. Initially a side project for Collins, who was also involved with Buzzoven, Weedeater became his primary focus after Buzzoven disbanded the same year. The band released their debut album ...And Justice for Y'all in 2001 and followed it up with Sixteen Tons in 2003, both via Berserker Records. They later signed with Southern Lord Records and released God Luck and Good Speed in 2007. The band's fourth album, "Jason...The Dragon", was released in 2011 after several delays due to injuries sustained by the band members. Weedeater joined Season of Mist in 2013 and released their fifth album, Goliathan, in 2015. Throughout their career, Weedeater has toured extensively, including appearances at Hellfest in 2010. The band's lineup has seen several changes, with Dave "Shep" Shepherd remaining a constant on guitar alongside Collins.
