Bobby Shew, born March 4, 1941 in Albuquerque, is a jazz trumpeter and flugelhorn player. He began his career after leaving university in 1960 and serving in the U.S. Army, touring with the NORAD band. He played with Tommy Dorsey, Woody Herman, Buddy Rich, and appeared on Tom Jones’ 1971 album Live at Caesar's Palace. Shew’s leadership discography began with Outstanding in His Field (1980), which was nominated for a Grammy, and Heavy Company (1981), followed by Yamaha Suite (1982), One in a Million (1992), and Tribute to the Masters (1995). He collaborated with Chuck Findley, Carl Fontana, and the Wigan Youth Jazz Orchestra.
