New HWMs Single, "Can You" out today. From "Ecstasy Rhymes"
The High Water Marks formed in 2003 when Hilarie Sidney
and Per Ole Bratset met after an Apples in Stereo show in
Oslo, Norway. The band has two official full-length releases,
Songs About the Ocean (2004, Eenie Meenie), and Polar
(2007, HHBTM Records). In 2019, Trondheim’s Wonderful
and Strange Records re-released Polar on Vinyl and made
Songs About The Ocean available for streaming. The High
Water Marks are back after a long hiatus with a new album,
Ecstasy Rhymes. The album is slated to release on November
20th 2020 via Minty Fresh. It was recorded between May
of 2019 and June 2020 with bandmates, Øystein Megård
and Logan Miller, across continents between Kentucky and
Norway. The High Water Mark’s Ecstasy Rhymes is a 39-minute
journey through pop hooks, orchestral mellotrons, and catchy
riffs. It’s sure to please listeners of indie rock, indie pop music,
fans of The High Water Marks, The Apples In Stereo, and
The Elephant 6 Collective. This is the bands’ best effort yet,
encompassing all the elements associated with the first two
albums, and building on that sound to take it to a new level.
Perhaps living in one of the world’s happiest countries, fresh
salty air from the North Sea, or access to socialized medicine
has had an effect on the band. Whatever it is, the magical
result is encompassed on the latest offering from the band,
Ecstasy Rhymes.
