Judas Iscariot was an American extreme metal project formed in 1992 under the name Heidegger by Andrew Jay “Akhenaten” Harris. The project was renamed in 1993. Initially a solo project, Akhenaten handled all instruments until Cryptic Winter joined as a guest drummer for the album Heaven in Flames (1999). The band's lineup fluctuated with live support from musicians that include Kanwulf and Lord Imperial. Judas Iscariot released several albums, which include The Cold Earth Slept Below... (1996) and To Embrace the Corpses Bleeding (2002). The project's final release was the EP Midnight Frost (To Rest with Eternity) (2003). The project disbanded on August 25, 2002, the same day as the death of Friedrich Nietzsche, whom Akhenaten cited as an inspiration.
