Mihály Víg, born September 21, 1957, in Budapest, Hungary, is a Hungarian composer, poet, and singer. He co-founded the bands Trabant and Balaton, which gained underground popularity even though their songs were not officially released in the 1980s. Víg composed film scores for directors including János Xantus, András Szirtes, Ildikó Szabó, Péter Müller Sziámi, and Béla Tarr. He also acted in films such as Sátántangó, where he played the lead role. His score for The Turin Horse (2011) was nominated for the European Film Award. Víg released several albums, including A fény közepe a sötétség kapujában (1996) and Filmzenék Tarr Béla Filmjeihez (2009). He received notable awards such as the Knight's Cross of the Order of Merit of the Hungarian Republic in 2003 and the Film Composer of the Year prize at the EU XXL Film Festival in Vienna in 2008.
